Mindray Bolsters Australian Market Presence with Ulco Pty Acquisition
(PRWEB UK) 4 December 2013 -- In September this year, Mindray acquired the 1964-established Ulco, a company renowned for supplying innovative and reliable medical products of superior quality. Prior to the acquisition, Ulco had acted as Mindray’s distributor for patient monitoring and life support products since 2007. Ulco’s offices in Melbourne, Victoria and others throughout Australia and New Zealand are being consolidated as Mindray branch offices and whilst Ulco will maintain its existing operations, it will be renamed Mindray Medical Australia.
Ulco Medical was originally established as a specialized engineering services company located in Marrickville, NSW. The ‘birth’ of Ulco arose following a request by a senior clinician from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney wanting help to develop a compact, portable, automated ventilator to provide support to patients undergoing anaesthesia. In the ensuing years, the “Campbell’s Ventilator” and Ulco Medical would become synonymous with anaesthesia in Australia. Echoing the company’s proactive beginnings, Ulco’s R&D and manufacturing capabilities have been driven by their dedication to listening to market needs. This has resulted in the development of an extensive range of solutions combining substance, style and affordability. Now Mindray Medical Australia can further offer Ulco’s customers the full range of Mindray’s intuitive healthcare technology solutions in addition to its current product portfolio.
Says Alex Wang, Deputy Managing Director of Mindray Medical Australia,“The acquisition of Ulco bolsters Mindray’s market presence in Australia, New Zealand and other Oceania islands. Ulco’s comprehensive sales and services capabilities and reciprocal vision for innovation in healthcare fits well with Mindray’s ethos of sharing medical technologies with the world”.
