This course provides an introduction to the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and is intended primarily for childcare practitioners. This course presents essential information to teachers and administrators about what ECERS observers are looking for and how the ECERS can be used as a guide to help improve the quality and effectiveness of a program. Course participants will learn to identify strategies and methods for improving the quality of care in every aspect of the learning environment, such as promoting early literacy and reasoning skills, maintaining developmentally appropriate play spaces, and ensuring high-quality supervision, discipline & guidance, and staff-child interactions.
“The Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale is a critical and widely used tool for measuring the quality of an early childhood program,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course provides an overview and specific strategies to help childcare providers better understand the ECERS guidelines. The result is more informed practitioners and improved learning environments for our children.”
