Over $6,000 Raised for Lauren Cherry at Uptown Alley
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- On August 25th, Uptown Alley hosted a fundraising event that raised over $6,000 for Lauren Cherry – a Chesterfield native who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called Pineoblastoma in July at age three. The event included musical performances by Pat Russell Solo, Sportsbar Rockstar and Honkeytonk Heros, as well as a silent auction. Uptown Alley donated a percentage of the day’s proceeds to the Lauren Cherry fundraiser.
“We are awestruck and amazed by the community that has formed in support of Lauren Cherry and her family,” says Jimmy Cabanban, General Manager of Uptown Alley. “It was our pleasure to be a part of such a great event for such a strong, positive family.”
Not only was Lauren Cherry diagnosed with a brain tumor on July 12, 2013, but she was also found to have an extremely rare pediatric lung tumor called Pleuropulmonary Blastoma in mid-August. As Lauren continues to undergo a variety of cancer treatments and hospital visits with her family, events like the Lauren Cherry fundraiser at Uptown Alley help keep the family’s spirits high and thinking positive. A support group has also formed on Facebook, with nearly 1,000 page likes from across the country and information updated regularly regarding Lauren’s wellbeing.
"We feel very humbled and thankful that we were able to be a part of this event, and even more thankful for all of the people that came out in support of Lauren and her family,” says Brian Fones of the Honkytonk Heros. “The event exceeded our expectations and we are still in awe of the community support that was shown on August 25th. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with little Lauren as she continues her battle."
