The UCLA Urban Humanities Initiative will be hosting a two day symposium on campus entitled “Making Urban Humanities” on campus on November 14-15. The event will explore the way individuals living in the cities of the Pacific Rim interact with the complexities of their built environments and feature a range of speakers and panels.

Beginning on the morning of Friday, November 14 and continuing until the early evening on Saturday, November 5, this innovative and highly informative conference will introduce the possibility of a field called “Urban Humanities,” which attempts to explore the lived spaces of dynamic proximities, cultural hybrids and networked interconnections. Urban humanities is an interdisciplinary field that includes design, the humanities and urban studies and can be extremely helpful for any prospective interior designer. Consider reimagining your conception of design by attending this conference, which also features presentations from speakers, panels, and research sessions.

Additionally, another design-related event will be taking place this Saturday, October 25, at the University of Southern California (USC). Join USC Sea Grant Fellow for an Excel Training and Infographic Design Lab. Attendees will have the opportunity to develop skills for their careers, learn excel functions to compute data, gain knowledge in visual communication, design information graphics with web-based tools, and meet other local design enthusiasts. This event is a great way to connect with local designers and develop invaluable skills.

“Excel Training and Infographic Design Lab” will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
