This Summer, it pays to be "Book Smart" at Valencia Group hotels
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) May 21, 2015 -- Kicking off its eighth season this summer, Houston-based Valencia Group’s annual Book Smart promotion has resulted in the donation of hundreds of children’s print and audio books to libraries, hospitals and non-profit groups in communities served by Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX, Hotel Valencia Santana Row in San Jose, CA, Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE in Houston,TX, Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO, and Lone Star Court in Austin, TX.
Launching on June 1st and running through August 31st 2015, the program rewards the support of overnight guests who donate a new print or audio book – appropriate for kids up to middle school age. New to the 2015 program is allowing guests to leave a monetary donation and the hotels will purchase books on their behalf. As a thank you, guests will enjoy a credit for a complimentary adult beverage, including wine, beer or a cocktail in several of the Valencia Group locations. The offer is limited to one voucher or credit per visit and can be redeemed at acclaimed venues including Monnalisa and Bistro Bar at Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE, Bar Rosso at Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza, Vbar at either Hotel Valencia Riverwalk or Hotel Valencia Santana Row, and Water Trough at Lone Star Court. Hotel Valencia Riverwalk
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk served as the pilot location for Book Smart and is partnering with the San Antonio Public Library for the eighth year in a row. For more than 100 years, the award-winning San Antonio Public Library has been a vital center for free learning, knowledge, communication, culture and enjoyment for all San Antonians. The San Antonio Public Library Foundation was created in 1983 to increase the awareness and use of the Library through financial support and programmatic efforts, thereby enhancing the community's appreciation and utilization of the library as a cultural and educational institution.
Hotel Valencia Santana Row
In its sixth year at Hotel Valencia Santana Row, the 2015 Book Smart promotion will benefit the San José Public Library and will coincide with the library’s Summer Reading Celebration. San José Public Library system is the largest public library system between San Francisco and Los Angeles on the West Coast in California, serving a culturally diverse population of approximately 1,023,083 in the nation’s 10th largest city. Hotel Sorella CITYCENTRE
Also in its sixth year at Hotel Sorella, the 2015 Book Smart promotion will benefit the Pi Beta Phi Patient Family Library at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza
In their second year, Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza will participate in the Book Smart promotion. The 2015 Kansas City promotion will benefit Hands to Hearts of Kansas City. The Bookmobile is an outreach of Hands to Hearts, Inc. a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of children everywhere. The Bookmobile is available to provide books to at risk children within the metropolitan KC area, primarily serving within the KCK school district. In order to most effectively use resources, they seek partnerships with schools and organizations that are already working with these children. Bookmobile visits are pre-scheduled with community partners and are given out free of charge.
Lone Star Court
Joining the Book Smart program for the second year, Lone Star Court’s book drive will be benefitting Recycled Reads. Recycled Reads is run primarily by volunteers with materials withdrawn from the Library’s collection and community’s donations. Recycled Reads raises money for the Austin Public Library and is an active participant in the City’s Zero Waste Initiative by ensuring obsolete materials are handled in an environmentally responsible way and kept out of landfills. Recycled Reads is proud to be celebrating its 5th year anniversary this year.
