Vanguard Roofing announces its 47th anniversary as a full-service Commercial Roofing Company. Vanguard Roofing began on March 29, 1972, as a full-service commercial, industrial and institutional repair and maintenance roofing company.

Since its inception in 1972, Vanguard has provided a unique approach towards the installation and maintenance of roofing systems based upon a thorough analysis from specifications that included building attributes and existing roofing components. Accurate recommendations, quick response to our customer’s needs and our commitment to producing high-quality work for a fair price is what Vanguard Roofing is all about.

In 1979 Vanguard became a pioneer in the installation of single-ply membrane roofing assemblies. By 1994 Vanguard started a full-service coating division for various types of smooth surface and built-up roofs.

Vanguard has continued to expand its services and by 2015 added Infra-Red Scans, and other sophisticated equipment, for exterior building diagnostics to detect moisture infiltration, thermal breaks and leaking issues of existing roofing systems.

Vanguard has been successful at evolving and changing to stay ahead of other roofing companies and has positioned itself in the most competitive way possible.

Rodney Rouse began his long career at Vanguard in 1975. His knowledge and meticulous workmanship helped him advance from a journeyman to foreman to crew chief followed by Senior Estimator in 1985. His working understanding of roofing system installations ensures Vanguard’s final product to be highly rated and has been instrumental in helping Vanguard attain Master Contractor status.

“The first day on the job for me was a learning experience. Service to the customer is what the message passed along was. It was then and still is now. What the management taught and emphasized over and over was the strength of the relationship you build by focusing on the needs of the individual customers and what you, as a company, need to do to make sure your company is the one they call when a problem develops,” said Rodney

Jo-Ann Longobardi, Vanguard’s Operations Manager started with the company as the bookkeeper in 1979. Her ability to multi-task a variety of procedures is instrumental in helping Vanguard achieve the growth rate it is has enjoyed. She works hand in hand with the production department in ordering and arranging for equipment to be at the job site and organizing mobilization for job startups. Her skillful management of company funds allows us to continue our growth.

The founding beliefs of family, commitment and excellence remain in place today and are the cornerstone of our company. Over the years being promoted from bookkeeper to office manager to Operations Manager I have seen these fundamental beliefs allow Vanguard to grow into the commercial, industrial, and institutional roofing company we are today,” said Jo-Ann.

Frank Algier purchased the company in 1990, coming from the construction industry; he brought with him a fresh insight and industry changes and has enhanced our customer relationships. Under his leadership Vanguard has been able to present innovative and customized approaches to traditional roofing installations and repairs to meet our customer’s ever-changing needs.

Frank Z. Algier joined his father in the business in 2007, after graduating with a degree in business from Marist College, making it truly a family-owned business.

Thinking outside the box is a very rewarding experience. We have achieved a role of leadership through our integration of new technology including aerial imagery, Infra-Red Scans, and moisture analysis. The value we bring to every roofing obstacle is highly regarded by our many customers,” said Frank Z.

As we continued to grow Kim Ashcraft joined our management team, with her operational background with a top Fortune 100 company. She quickly took on different operational challenges including IT and Marketing.

“This has been the most interesting 18 years of my life. My personal goal is to Be Deliberate in Every Moment which I believe has enabled me to be successful and learn different operations of Vanguard. I believe that due to our founding beliefs remaining our top priority today Vanguard remains viable, strong and growing. Vanguard has achieved this milestone through the hard work and dedication of our associates and our culture of customer service that exists throughout the entire organization. Our customers continually show their confidence in us by giving us their business, by sharing new opportunities and by recommending us to others. We are grateful for that confidence and we continually do all we can to earn it,” said Kim

In 1984 Vanguard expanded its territory to include Eastern Connecticut, and in 2004 to Northern New Jersey. Vanguard continued its expansion into Massachusetts; by 2014 Jay Dzuibek joined our team and was quickly promoted to the Division Manager working out of Vanguard’s Springfield Mass Office servicing the Western Connecticut and Eastern Massachusetts areas.

“Since starting with Vanguard and my promotion to Division Manager the past 5 years expanding into our newest territory has flown by. Our clients come first and our goal is to deliver a quality roofing product which I know we do. Exchanging ideas is exciting when it helps our customers achieve their goals. Whether it is repairing or re-roofing there is nothing more satisfying than hearing a Great Job Jay,” said Jay.

To date, Vanguard has repaired thousands of roof leaks in 4 states and surpassed millions of square feet of managed commercial roofs each year.
