Author Vernon Harris Promotes 2013 Book Via iUniverse Radio
RENO, Nev. (PRWEB) March 28, 2015 -- Author Vernon Harris worked as an international military specialist and spent a substantial amount of time with a number of military members, listening to their harrowing tales while seeing the toll loss can take on military members’ families. His 2013 novel, “Dark Side of the Looking Glass,” (published by iUniverse) explores the struggle of one brother searching for another amidst the Vietnam War.
This year, in an effort to market his book to a more tech-savvy audience, Harris participated in an online radio interview about “Dark Side of the Looking Glass”, which originally aired Feb. 1 on Toginet.com. The recent interview is now available for download and live streaming at the site.
Rather than focusing solely on the horrors of war, Harris instead zones in on the bonds of the people in the military and the immense struggle family members face when their loved ones go missing.
To approach a younger generation unfamiliar with the tension Vietnam caused, Harris added a fantasy element to his novel. The protagonist, Sam Michael, slips into a comatose state and is sent reeling into an alternate universe where he must survive the Vietnam War as a soldier with no previous experience. Sam searches for his brother while trying to complete a mission he does not fully understand.
“We see the atrocities of war on television every day,” Harris says. “The children, brothers, sisters and parents left with questions and constant worry are often misunderstood or, worse yet, completely ignored.”
