Shields Insurance, a locally owned firm that provides insurance management assistance and financial planning services to communities across southern Illinois, is embarking on a charity drive to raise local support for the ongoing efforts of the Disabled American Veterans Mount Vernon chapter.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is committed to empowering and enabling US veterans to live fulfilling lives with the respect and dignity they have earned through their service and sacrifice. Currently, DAV provides transportation services to nearly 700,000 veterans who require assistance attending medical appointments, and has worked to help veterans and their families recover more than $4 billion in unreceived benefits.

“Disabled American Veterans fights for our heroes on a daily basis, and our firm is honored to help them in their mission to provide for the men and women who keep our country safe,” says Paul Shields, executive manager and founder of Shields Insurance.

Working to promote the DAV Mount Vernon charity drive in communities throughout southern Illinois, Shields and his team are reaching out to regional families, veterans, and aid workers over social media and email to provide more information. Further publicity is anticipated after the release of an upcoming article on the DAV organization scheduled for publication in a new edition of the Shields Insurance online magazine “Our Hometown”: http://shieldsinsgroup.com/magazines/.

The Disabled American Veterans of Mount Vernon charity drive is only the first of many such events scheduled by the Shields Insurance team over the coming months. As new participants in the “Agents of Change” charity support program, Shields Insurance will be assisting additional southern Illinois charitable causes at the rate of one every sixty days.
