McNett Corporation and Local Sponsors Raise 10K for Veterans
Bellingham, WA (PRWEB) October 07, 2013 -- McNett® Corporation is pleased to announce that it has raised over $10,000 with the help of local businesses and community support to send 10 deserving Veterans from Whatcom and Skagit counties on the 3rd annual Hunting with Heroes™ weekend.
Hunting with Heroes is an annual event featuring pheasant hunting, steelhead and trout fishing and other great outdoors activities exclusively for Veterans. Participants are treated to an executive level outdoor experience, free concerts, amazing BBQ and guided hunting and fishing excursions. This year’s event kicks off Friday, October 11 and ends Monday, October 14 in Klickitat, Wash.
“We’ve been a proud sponsor of Hunting with Heroes since the event first started back in 2011,” said Travis Huisman, Chief Executive Officer at McNett. “This year, we’re going all out with a title sponsorship. In addition, we’re sending 10 extra Veterans from our local community for an incredible weekend of fun.”
In order to send the 10 additional local Veterans, McNett needed to raise an extra $10K in donations. The company started a fundraising site on Indiegogo, reached out to local businesses and media and held fundraisers, including an event at Kulshan Brewing Company on September 19th which raised over $500 with support from the local community.
“We also challenged our staff to raise an additional $1,000 for Hunting with Heroes 2013,” said Huisman. “If our staff could raise the much needed donations, we agreed to bring in a taco truck and provide free lunch to everyone. I’m pleased to report that the entire staff will be dining on tacos next Tuesday!”
