Epica Medical Innovations Launches Pegaso™ -The Worlds First Equine Specific CT Scanner
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- Pegaso™, represents a quantum leap in diagnostic, interventional, and intraoperative imaging and was built from the ground up, to fulfill the previously unmet imaging needs of equine veterinarians. The fully robotic, high- definition CT Scanner that also includes large field, high resolution Fluoroscopy and Digital X-ray, is mobile and can easily be moved around the practice.
Equine veterinarians have long struggled with getting good equine CT images on horses, due to their size; the average thoroughbred weighs more than one ton and stands between 62-68” tall. With The 1.2 meter diameter of the variable geometry, tilting gantry- equine veterinarians can perform a CT scan of a standing horse’s head and neck up to the C7 vertebrae. Pegaso™ can scan any anatomy of an anesthetized horse and provides the highest quality imaging; including distal limbs.

The multi-modality Pegaso™ unit features a resolution that is 1481 times higher than standard CT.
