Five winners will be selected and awarded a cash prize based on their length of tenure:
- 90-179 days of employment: $900
- 180-364 days of employment: $1,800
- 1-3 years: $3,650

The top winners will be flown from their respective centers to Villa Healthcare's head office in Skokie, Illinois for a special award ceremony on October 3, 2018 from 3:30-4:30pm.
Villa Healthcare's "Why Villa" contest is one of several ways that the organization supports and strengthens employee engagement. Other initiatives include:
- A Team Member of the Month program in each center that recognizes and celebrates employees.
- A Culture Committee in each location that carries out team-building events and activities, and focuses on innovative ways of keeping morale high.
- The "BETTER" service excellence program, which is a code of conduct that captures the company's shared standards of team members working together on behalf of guests. New employees are introduced to the program on their first day.
The positive impact of these initiatives helped Villa Healthcare recently earn Great Place to Work® in Aging Services certification from the Great Place to Work Institute. The coveted distinction was based on the results of over 1,800 anonymous employee surveys from across all 28 Villa Healthcare locations.
Commented April Doremus, Villa Healthcare's Vice President of Engagement: "We fully understand and appreciate that our employees are our biggest asset, and we want to ensure they feel valued, respected and recognized. We received hundreds of beautiful essays as part of the Why Villa contest. It was inspirational and educational to discover the many factors that motivate team members to choose our organization, such as making a profound difference in the lives of our guests, the incredible support and care they receive from their colleagues, the opportunity to do a critically important job that makes them and their families proud, and the list goes on. We thank everyone who participated in the contest, and look forward to announcing the winners on October 3!"
