At the end of July, 2013, Dr. Kyle S. Choe of The Choe Center in Virginia Beach, VA, traveled to Managua, Nicaragua for a mission trip to help the people of one of the poorest countries in the world.
According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), nearly forty-eight percent of the Nicaraguan population lives below the poverty line. Almost eighty percent live on less than $2 per day. When Dr. Choe arrived, he came in contact with many wonderful people, most of whom did not have enough money to by the simple over-the-counter medications, such as Tylenol or topical steroid creams, which most of us consume on a regular basis. Over the course of the trip, the medical mission team that Dr. Choe was associated with treated over 200 patients. No surgery was performed by the doctor, but he was able to make a significant impact by assisting the citizens of Managua with basic medical needs and health education. The trip made a lasting impression on Dr. Choe, impart because of the flavorful food, but primarily because of the people. “They were very appreciative and kind,” Dr. Choe described. “I have been on many trips in the past, but this was one of the most memorable because of the people we met. I hope to return next year.”
Dr. Kyle S. Choe, board certified facial plastic surgeon, specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck. His certifications are from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. In 2004, he left a leading New York practice and has been rejuvenating the faces of patients in the Virginia Beach area ever since. Dr. Choe has presented numerous lectures and been the author of several articles on facial plastic surgery. He is knowledgeable and has extensive experience in a wide range of surgical procedures, including those that are minimally-invasive, and many that are non-surgical.
The Choe Center is the only practice in the Hampton Roads area to specialize in plastic surgery for the face. The philosophy of Dr. Choe and his staff is to “help you look as young or as good as you feel.” To accomplish this, procedures such as brow lift, face lift, cheek augmentation, lip augmentation, or rhinoplasty may be performed. Ulthera, injectables, and TCA chemical peels are some of the non-surgical options available. The Choe Center also stresses the importance of quality skin care as a way to maintain the results of a facial procedure or uphold naturally youthful skin.
