VirtuOx Launches CardioCHECK, the World's First Multidisciplinary Mobile Cardiac Telemetry Program!
VirtuOx launches CardioCHECK, the world's first multidisciplinary Mobile Cardiac Telemetry program that can measure cardiac arrhythmias with pulse oximetry for hypoxemia or home sleep testing for obstructive sleep apnea.
SAN FRANCISCO, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VirtuOx, http://virtuox.net/, a home respiratory diagnostic provider announces today a new service, CardioCHECK a new way to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias in the patient's home.
The VirtuOx CardioCHECK program is a new way to diagnose patients with cardiac arrythmias by utilizing mobile cardiac telemetry (MCT) in the convenience and comfort of the patient's home.
The VirtuOx CardioCHECK program allow prescribers to order MCT at the same time as other VirtuOx services like overnight pulse oximetry for nocturnal hypoxemia or home sleep testing for obstructive sleep apnea.
Kyle Miko, Founder and CMO for VirtuOx says "Research has shown arrhythmias are common with patients who have comorbid conditions like sleep apnea and hypoxemia so now offering mobile cardiac telemetry was a natural progression for VirtuOx"
VirtuOx, tests more than 30,000 new patients each month and has successfully tested over five million patients for hypoxemia and sleep apnea. Dr. Bill Bowden, a board-certified cardiac physician, and one of VirtuOx's many medical directors says, "with access to this large amount of data, we have uncovered huge patient populations who have cardiac arrhythmias at night with severe bradycardia / tachycardia events who may benefit from an MCT."
Cardiac arrhythmias affect about 14 million people in the USA (5% of the population). Common disorders include: premature ventricular contractions, premature atrial contractions, atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. The incidence is highly related to age and the presence of underlying heart disease; the incidence approaches 30% following open heart surgery.
Cardiac arrhythmias signs or symptoms may include shortness of breath, fainting, loss of heart function, breathing, and consciousness that leads to death within minutes unless the person receives emergency medical treatment to restart the heart. So, it's important to figure out when an arrhythmia is serious and merits medical attention.
