Ft. Collins, CO and Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) April 30, 2014
Verified Volunteers, the first-of-its-kind platform for volunteer screening, and Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), which works to alleviate poverty through its network of local agencies around the country, announce their strategic alliance to make vetting volunteers safer, streamlined, and less costly for CCUSA member agencies.
This partnership makes the background screening process faster and more user-friendly for participating CCUSA member agencies and their volunteers through a streamlined platform, cost-sharing features, and Fast-Pass background check sharing capabilities. Using Verified Volunteers’ online platform, volunteers can share their completed background check with any other youth sports organization, nonprofit, school or faith-based organization in the Verified Volunteers community.
Since as many as half of all volunteers serve with more than one organization, the cost and inconvenience of repetitive screening can be a significant barrier for CCUSA member agencies and their volunteers. Using a standardized volunteer service credential that satisfies screening requirements and is recognized by multiple organizations translates into lower costs and a greater number of qualified, readily available and dedicated volunteers.
“CCUSA is happy to enter into this new partnership with Verified Volunteers,” said Rev. Larry Snyder, President of Catholic Charities USA. “We believe this background check platform has the potential to dramatically transform volunteer screening for the better for Catholic Charities agencies across the country.”
At the local level, participating CCUSA member agencies can direct new volunteers to Verified Volunteers’ self-service, online platform, where they complete a four-step registration process. Volunteer background checks will now be available within hours or days - not weeks, as is often the case with current screening processes.
Verified Volunteers’ screening platform features automatic monthly updates and cost-sharing capabilities, which decrease the time and monetary investment needed for both CCUSA member agencies and volunteers.
“We are honored to partner with CCUSA and its member agencies across the country,” said Verified Volunteers Executive Director Tom Klein. “Catholic Charities volunteer managers can now access a platform custom built around their needs and Catholic Charities volunteers will now have access to the Verified Volunteers Fast-Pass.”
Features of the Verified Volunteers platform include:
· A paperless, self-service online process
· Cost-sharing capability between volunteers and the nonprofits they serve
· Fast-Pass: Volunteer ability to securely share background check free of charge with multiple volunteer organizations on the platform
· Automatic monthly updates (at no additional cost for the first year) and real-time alerts
· Volunteer manager ability to track, communicate with and manage volunteers
· Compliance with FCRA and state laws
CCUSA is the most recent national organization to partner with Verified Volunteers and support the standardization and compliant sharing of volunteer background checks. Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, announced its strategic partnership with Verified Volunteers in late 2013. Verified Volunteers is closely collaborating with Points of Light’s HandsOn Network volunteer action centers in cities across the U.S.
