Walden to Host Annual Walden Event: A Magical Evening Under the Stars on October 10th
(PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- As a follow up to its 40th anniversary gala, Walden is proud to host its first ever Walden Event: A Magical Evening Under the Stars on October 10th at the Olde Breton Inn in Leonardtown, Maryland. Beginning at 7pm, the evening, filled with food, fun, and magical entertainment will focus on recognizing the many determined patients seeking treatment at Walden.
For over 40 years Walden has offered a comprehensive array of behavioral health treatment and recovery services to individuals and families throughout the Southern Maryland community. Among the many specialized services Walden offers are crisis intervention, psychiatric and mental health therapy, trauma services related to relationship abuse or sexual assault, drug and alcohol services, and community and recovery support services. Walden also offers a 24-hour crisis hotline, which is one of the oldest of its kind in the country and responds to thousands of calls annually.
As many communities around the nation experience, Walden’s local community has also been hit by the heroin addiction epidemic. Southern Maryland continues to see a growing need for treatment options; from 2008 to 2012 Walden’s Anchor Residential Treatment program increased admissions by 400%. The rate of treatment admissions for heroin use more than doubled (230% increase) in that time frame. Walden has also seen an increase in guests using ongoing, open-ended recovery support services. Now more than ever, the organization is seeking help and support from in response to these growing concerns. Walden invites the community to attend its annual event, recognizing those who seek proper treatment for meeting their unique needs and supporting our future services.
