Speaking session to include top findings on how technology influences shopping decisions, the need for convenient and connected experiences, and the importance of sustainable practices

Walker Sands Communications, an integrated PR and digital marketing agency for B2B technology and professional services companies, will present its sixth annual Future of Retail report at IRCE 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. Erin Jordan, retail technology and commerce practice area lead at Walker Sands and author of the report, will present the key findings and takeaways on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10:30am in Room S103A-Dof McCormick Place South. This year's report reveals consumer preferences come down to two main areas: convenience and connection.

Since 2013, the annual Future of Retail report has focused on how new developments and technology in e-commerce have changed retail and the consumer shopping experience. The 2019 study, based on a survey of 1,600 U.S. consumers, covers insights about why the balance of convenience and connection will drive commerce forward, preferences for in-store and online experiences, and the increasing importance of sustainability and brand reputation in retail.

IRCE attendees will receive an exclusive look at the findings and learn how technology is expected to continue to impact consumer preferences in the years ahead. The presentation will also include key takeaways on how brands, retailers and manufacturers can stay on the cutting-edge of the industry.

“For the past six years our report has been a lens for how quickly and dramatically the commerce landscape has changed. This year’s report is a continuation of the way technology has fueled a shift in consumer preferences and brings some trends full circle back to using the in-store to connect more deeply with shoppers. There are certain product categories where convenience is king, but brands able to differentiate themselves by demonstrating their value and focusing on sustainability practices will become a part of the fabric of their consumers’ daily lives,” said Jordan. “I am thrilled to release the report at IRCE again this year alongside so many retail industry leaders.”

Walker Sands’ annual Future of Retail report has become a go-to resource for retail and marketing reporters and thought leaders looking for insight on the evolution of the retail experience. Data from the report has been featured in national publications, including Forbes, CNBC, Adweek, Digital Trends, MarketWatch as well as several trade publications, including Retail Dive, Marketing Land, Internet Retailing and Chain Store Age.
