Greg Adler and Team 4 Wheel Parts Ascend the Wild West in Reno
Compton, California (PRWEB) August 29, 2015 -- Greg Adler and Team 4 Wheel Parts climbed the heights of Reno’s Wild West Motorsports Park this past weekend as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series launched into Rounds 13&14 on the uniquely featured short course off-road track carved into the mountainsides of Northern Nevada. With the series continuing to draw capacity crowds on each stop this season, Adler and the world’s best off-road competitors converged on August 22-23 to spar on the most distinctive course on the season schedule.
The high speed straightaways, massive waterfall jumps and demanding hill climbs embedded into the mile-and-a half Wild West course, challenged drivers and mechanics alike as temperatures soared into the 90’s during both afternoons of competition. For Adler, his gamble at the start of Saturday’s Pro4, Round 13 main event served notice that he had arrived in Reno to compete for a podium finish.
“We didn’t have a very good grid position, but we took the green flag and had a solid drive up the hill into turn one at the start of the race,” he said. “There was a lot of contact in the corner and we ended up getting collected, but we got right back on the throttle and into the mix.” On pace and guaranteeing himself a top 5 result, Adler noticed the temperature rise in his 900 HP Pro4 and was forced to back off the throttle, preserving the motor for the next day’s action.
A combination of a strong qualifying effort and a favorable draw put Adler on the front row for Sunday’s Pro4 weekend finale. Through the first two corners he battled to maintain the lead as the mass of rolling metal pushed to the front of the pack in his wake.
As the field came into the third corner, Adler was pushed hard to the outside wall but was able to maintain third position. In a race that saw multiple lead changes and significant contact between drivers, the contest quickly evolved into a battle of attrition. Thirteen laps into the 18-lap race, Adler, holding tightly to the third spot on the podium and looking to improve his result, was forced to retire with a mechanical issue with his drivetrain.
“This was a tough way to end the weekend. We got bumped out of the lead but the truck felt great and we were on a solid pace and running hard,” said Adler. “The guys on this team work their tails off to give me a truck that can take us to the podium, so it’s disappointing to fall just short so late in the race. Now, we need to focus on heading into Vegas and work hard to finish the season strong.”
The series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway September 18-19 for the penultimate race weekend before the 2015 season comes to a close at Southern California’s Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup.
