Sunshine Recycling, Inc., a Jacksonville roll off dumpster and construction recycling company, has been contracted to provide waste management and recycling services during the construction of the Mile Point Training Wall Reconfiguration in Duval County, Florida. The company will be supplying 20-yard roll-off dumpsters for several concrete loads, and 30-yard roll-off dumpsters for several brush and tree debris loads from the land that is being cleared.

Mile Point is the location where the St. Johns River and Intracoastal waterway converge. This section of the river experiences difficult crosscurrents on the ebb tide, inhibiting the free movement of vessel traffic and resulting in long delays for cargo container ships. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has undergone a project to eliminate the existing training wall at Mile Point and construct a new wall, which they believe will improve vehicle transit efficiency and reduce the number of hazards on the waterway.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracted with Seattle-based Manson Construction, to remove the existing 3,300-foot training wall and build a new 4,000-foot West Leg training wall and 2,100-foot East Leg training wall. Manson then sub-contracted with Sunshine for waste management services. The Mile Point Training Wall Reconfiguration project is expected to be completed by August 2016.

“Manson is a leader in marine construction and dredging, and we’re thrilled to be able to work with them on such an important endeavor,” says Chuck Herb, owner of Sunshine Recycling. “Ever since we got the contract, we’ve been hauling multiple loads weekly. It’s very exciting to see all the progress that’s being made.”

In addition to this project, Sunshine has been involved with a number of other construction projects in recent years.
