In2Connect adds Hermetic Glass to Metal M12 waterproof connector to the range
London, UK (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- In2Connect UK Ltd (http://www.in2connect.uk.com), the UK based specialist supplier of waterproof connectors, has added Hermetic Glass to Metal M12 connectors to its already extensive IP rated waterproof range. These glass to metal hermetically sealed IP68 M12 male socket connectors are designed to exceed the mechanical and environmental requirements of IEC-61076-2-101 with fixed pin contacts, fused into a glass dielectric insert. Hermetically sealed M12 connectors from In2Connect are available as receptacles with eyelet, solder bucket and/or PCB contacts.
Based on the M12 threaded connector range, the new connectors have been designed and manufactured to meet customers’ stringent individual requirements for environmental, mechanical and mounting conditions. Hermetic M12 connectors from In2Connect are designed to exceed IP68 in an unmated state. These connectors have a wide variety of applications and can be found in most industry sectors, such as transport and instrumentation, for use with proximity switches, sensors and interconnection in harsh environmental conditions. Standard Hermetic connectors are sealed by fusing a single piece glass insert into a machined Stainless Steel Shell. The pin contacts are permanently fused into the insert. To maintain thermal compatibility with the glass insert, the contacts are manufactured from a nickel alloy. The protective plating on the pin contacts is electro-deposited gold over nickel.
The Jam Nut is supplied with a fluorosilicone rubber O-ring for panel sealing. All In2Connect M12 connectors and M12 hermetic connectors are RoHS compliant. The standard hermetic M12 connector is not designed as a pressure resistant connector even though the inserts are capable of withstanding high pressure differentials. With this water resistant d-sub system, the back-potted and 'O' ring mounted panel connectors always ensure full IP67 conformity whether mated or unmated and can be further protected by an end cap when unmated. The mating cable end connector can have a waterproof hood as shown in the colour picture above. This has a compression ring to stop the ingress of water via the cable entry point at the rear and a sealing skirt at the connector interface. The cable-end connection will not itself meet IP67 when unmated unless a waterproof cap is fitted. Once mated, then the total connexion interface, not just the panel mount connector will conform to IP67.
From a data signal viewpoint In2Connect also specialise in waterproof industrial versions of the RJ45 and USB connectors. The Ethernet RJ45 meets Cat 5e requirements for data rates up to 100Mbs, whilst the USB is designed to meet USB version 2.0 specifications for data rates up to 480Mbs.
To complete the waterproof connector family, Optical fibre LC connections with IP68 ratings are now also available enabling much simpler and quicker connections for applications where standard fibre cabling would not stand the strain.
