Tonawanda Castle Hosts Veteran’s Day Celebration to Benefit H.E.R.D. Foundation
Tonawanda, NY (PRWEB) October 09, 2013 -- The Tonawanda Castle is hosting its third annual Veteran's Day Celebration and Fundraiser, featuring the Alex Rene Big Swing Band.
The Castle is proud to offer an event that pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country as well as to the history of the majestic building itself. Built in 1896, the Tonawanda Castle was originally constructed as the home of the 25th Separate Company of the National Guard. Though recently converted to an event venue, attributes of the original armory construction are a large part of what make this venue so unique. However, the armory was designed for elegance just as much as function: it boasts lavish woodwork, numerous chandeliers and a luxurious ballroom with overlooking balconies.
The Veteran’s Day celebration will be held in the grand ballroom where guests can enjoy the sounds of the Alex Rene Big Swing Band and an enormous hardwood dance floor. The authentic big band music has been described as “fun to listen to, and easy to dance to.” The sight of more than a dozen band members dressed to the nines holding gleaming brass instruments sets the stage for a night of easy going sophistication. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres will be provided throughout the night, offering some of the delicious catering that the Castle is known for. A cash bar will also be available.
This celebration is held annually in order to benefit the H.E.R.D. Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising public awareness about the lack of veterans’ resources in the community. The H.E.R.D. foundation strives to ensure that no veteran or service member is forgotten upon his or her return home from active duty. It provides vital resources to veterans in multiple ways, including maintaining a database of resources currently available for Western New York veterans in housing, health care, employment and financial and legal assistance.
