‘Ohana Health Plan Gives Hospice Hawaii $9,000 To Help Deliver End-Of-Life And Palliative Care In Hawaii
Honolulu, Hawaii (PRWEB) May 20, 2014 -- ‘Ohana Health Plan and its associates donated nearly $9,000 to support Hospice Hawaii’s 5th Annual Hot Pursuit competition, which was created to help the organization provide quality end-of-life and palliative care to patients and their families.
Hospice Hawaii’s annual Hot Pursuit competition is a fundraiser and race that challenges teams to solve riddles and complete fun tasks while attempting to be the first to cross the finish line. Fifty ‘Ohana associates participated in the event, which was held in Honolulu in April.
Hospice Hawaii is a non-profit, Medicare- and Medicaid-certified hospice that has been providing care and support to terminally ill patients and their families since 1979. Its comprehensive, interdisciplinary program is designed to support the choices of patients, to preserve their dignity and to allow them the opportunity to live the remainder of their lives as fully as possible in the comfort of their homes or chosen settings.
“‘Ohana is dedicated to serving our state’s most vulnerable residents, and we were honored to come together to support Hospice Hawaii, and terminally ill individuals and their families,” said Wendy Morriarty, state president of ‘Ohana Health Plan. “The majority of our donation was raised by our dedicated and passionate associates who enable us to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Hawaii residents each day.”
“Hospice Hawaii relies on the support of corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers to help it fulfill its mission to bring hope, reduce fears and impact lives,” said Ken Zeri, president and chief professional officer of Hospice Hawaii. “‘Ohana Health Plan played a tremendous role in this year's Hot Pursuit by staffing an information booth, showing incredible team spirit and raising much needed funds for our organization through its racer participation. In fact, six of the top 10 fundraisers were from ‘Ohana Health Plan! We are truly grateful for their participation and support.”
