WestBridge Webinar to Focus on Co-occurring Disorders
Brooksville, Florida (PRWEB) November 11, 2014 -- As a leader in the field of providing quality care for patients with co-occurring substance use and mental illness, WestBridge Treatment Centers will sponsor a series of webinars on integrated care beginning this month. WestBridge, with residential treatment facilities in Florida, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, invites health care professionals to join the webinars from 1 to 2:30 p.m. EST November 13 and December 11. Reservations for the November event can be made at https://www..gotomeeting.com/register/291915944.
WestBridge’s approach to providing simultaneous treatment for substance use and mental illness, such as major depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, has a proven success rate. The organization’s long-term approach includes individual plans for each client, using evidence-based treatment. Family members are included as part of the recovery team to help provide support as clients learn life skills that will help them reach their goals.
Delia Cimpean Hendrick, M.D., WestBridge psychiatrist and associate professor of medicine and psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School, will conduct the November webinar titled, “Integrated Health Care for the Engagement, Treatment and Support of Those with Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders.” She will present the most current information available about the value of integrated health care for people with a dual diagnosis. Discussion topics will include ways to improve patient care, management of financial resources and suggestions for creating an atmosphere to best support recovery.
WestBridge CEO Mary Woods will present the December webinar, titled “When the Door Opened: Recovery from Co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorders.” Intended to dispel the notion that people who suffer from serious mental illness and substance abuse addiction never fully recover, the webinar will include the stories of 12 individuals who have experienced recovery without relapse and who are leading healthy, functional lives.
“WestBridge is a trail-blazer in successful treatment for co-occurring disorders,” Woods said. “In my webinar, I will be discussing insights into the value of providing hope by offering patience, honesty and effective communication as tools for recovery. Honesty is the foundation of sobriety, and effective communication brings about respect.”
Participants in previous webinars offered by WestBridge have high praise for the content, including effective business practices and methods to involve families in the recovery process.
“Mary Woods is good at taking research and evidence-based practices and discussing them in a way that clinicians can easily understand and integrate,” said Jim Clarkson, CEO of Via Positiva, an agency that provides behavioral health consulting. “Clients and families can relate to this approach and put the information to practical use. This was one of the best presentations made to our Addiction Professional Business Learning Collaborative this year.”
