LAGUNA HILLS, Calif., May 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- At the Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children's Shelter, mothers and their children were treated to a unique opportunity on May 7th, leading up to Mother's Day. Following a delicious meal, the mothers were pampered while the children made crafts to give as Mother's Day presents.
They enjoyed an amazing meal donated by Cabaki's Catering, Williams and Associates, and Olive Garden. Dessert was both amazing cupcakes donated by Special Kneads and Treats Bakery and a chocolate fountain also courtesy of Cabaki's Catering, along with coffee donated by Hometown Hope REV Coffee. Dunkin Donuts provided coffee and donuts for breakfast the following morning and Starbucks donated coffee and breakfast on Sunday, May 12, for Mother's Day.
This was all part of an event with a unique mission, to prepare women at the shelter for job interviews. Women got to shop for business and casual clothes, accessories, and personal care items provided by Trust Your Journey, Beyond the Ribbon, Macy's, and individual donors so they will look sharp as they interview for jobs. They were pampered with mini-manicures by a team of volunteers from Table Ministries. Meanwhile, their children made cards and decorated terracotta pots with seedlings to present to their moms for Mother's Day provided by The Stork's Accomplice and Macaroni Kid.
The Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter was behind this service project, working in coordination with Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children's Shelter, a nonprofit shelter that provides services for homeless children and their mothers in Buford, GA.
"The entire community really rallied behind this project in collaboration and camaraderie, serving enthusiastically as sponsors, volunteers, and committee members this year. As exciting as that was to see, it was even more heartwarming to witness how empowering this was for the mothers and how proud the kids were of what they made for their moms," said Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter President Celeste Giordano.
Woman of Global Change Atlanta Chapter raised $750.00 with a goal of $1500, which runs through May 31st, to give Home Of Hope as an additional donation to the Dress To Empower Service Project from the following corporate sponsors and in-kind supporters: Macy's at
