History is an important part of life for many people, as the lives of today are often shaped by those of yesterday. For Wayne Rudolph Davidson, author of the new bookWhen Clans Collide: The Germination of Adam’s Family Tree through Surname, Life Experience, and DNA” (published by Abbott Press), history is an integral part of existence worth exploring.

“When Clans Collide” documents Davidson’s journey of discovery as he attempts to understand where his name comes from and where it could possibly take him. The research took him years as he not only wanted to know the European origins of his name, but what leaps it needed to take in order to reach him, an African American.

“I wanted to meet the people of my ancestral family tree, learn of their life experiences,” Davidson says, “and understand the events they encountered and coped with, both as a collective group and as individuals, that led to the lifestyle I enjoy today. I found connection to the English crown, the presidential office, great industries, and slave quarters.”

Davidson hopes the book will not only educate others of his surname, but inspire readers to do some research of their own and discover their histories.
