White Horse Village, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Newtown Square, Pa., is celebrating its 30th anniversary year with the debut of a revised Vision, Mission and Core Values along with three new strategic initiatives that aim to strengthen its 96-acre campus and the lives of current and future residents.

“We have been privileged to serve the residents of Delaware County and the Philadelphia area for 30 wonderful years,” said Len Weiser, President and CEO of White Horse Village. “The older adult landscape is evolving and will continue to do so due to the rapid growth of the older adult population, changes in healthcare policy/reimbursement as well as the adoption of technology. Our new strategic initiatives will help ensure that we’ll be able to successfully continue our work for the next 30 years.”

For three decades, White Horse Village has been revered as one the leading Life Plan Communities in the greater-Philadelphia area. The organization has continuously provided residents with premium housing, a full continuum of healthcare services, life enrichment programs, and support offerings.

In an effort to enhance all of its offerings and prepare for the future of the older adult landscape, White Horse Village has outlined key strategic initiatives aligned to its new mission to provide opportunities for residents that emphasize personal growth, connectedness, and relationships. These initiatives include:

  • Infrastructure: Over the next several years, campus infrastructure will be strengthened through continuous capital improvements, such as the installation of campus-wide WiFi, a new facility master plan and other technology integrations. White Horse Village also recently announced a partnership with K4Connect to roll out the most advanced senior living technology on the market to residents and team members.
  • On-Campus Resident Services: Continuing to provide its residents with premium amenities and services, White Horse Village will expand and improve resident offerings, such as increased wellness programming, amenities and enhanced healthcare support services.
  • Community Aging Services: In order to support the aging community in the surrounding area, White Horse Village will look at possible partnerships with local associations and organizations, to evaluate the possibility of added services to the local community.

“As a staple in the community for decades, White Horse Village has continuously strived to give residents the opportunity to expand life’s possibilities,” said Shirley A. Weaver, Chair of the White Horse Village Board of Directors. “The new initiatives that we have mapped out will enable our organization to broaden its reach in order to provide current and future residents at White Horse Village and possibly the surrounding community with the opportunity to live extraordinary lives. Over the next 30 years, we look forward to seeing the impact our work will have on our residents and the community overall.”

The blueprint for White Horse Village’s strategic initiatives is complete and will be put into practice beginning in 2020.

In honor of its 30th anniversary, White Horse Village team members and residents are participating in a number of celebratory events this year, including a tree planting ceremony in which three dog-wood trees were planted in honor of each decade of service, the Village Singers May concert series, and a murder mystery dinner event on August 8th.

“The 30th anniversary has been an occasion for White Horse Village Residents and staff to partner in planning a year-long celebration, which has included our Ladies Luncheon, Garden Day, a White Party, and a Roaring Twenties anniversary dinner,” said Nancy Davis, President of the Resident Association at White Horse Village. “Long-time residents have shared their memories with newer residents. It has been an exhilarating year for all of us.”
