As new looks from The Wild North Apparel’s winter fashion line made it onto the runway at the main event for Start Up Fashion Week, in Toronto, designer Janet Han proved that it is entirely possible to live in style during the winter months, without sacrificing warmth or practicality.

“We’re very excited to have our launch, here at Start Up Fashion Week,” said Janet. “It’s thrilling to know everyone was excited to see our products and can’t wait to purchase our products. We think this winter will be a very good season and are looking forward to it.”

The Wild North Apparel is a Canadian brand offering winter-outerwear and accessories with a luxurious and modern edge.

Start Up Fashion Week, as its name implies, is an organized, week-long series of events, conferences that links start up entrepreneurs with professionals in the fashion industry and closes with a runway show, of which The Wild North was chosen to participate in. Four other designers were also selected and included showcases from Atelier Guarin, Bytten, Maybe by Catalfo and KLATT.

Jodi Goodfellow, founder and managing director of Start Up Fashion Week also explained her inspiration for helping to create the initiative.

“Start Up Fashion Week is important because there really isn’t an event out there that is mainly focused on start ups in fashion,” Jodi said. She also said one of her motivations was to create an event similar to fashion weeks in other cities, where start ups can have the opportunity to learn and connect with appropriate people to launch, accelerate and sustain their businesses.
