Eco friendly, toxin-free company, Wild Mint, has released their first healthy nursery e-guidebook to help parents create a safe, non toxic nursery for their children.

The Healthy Nursery e-guidebook is an all inclusive resource for parents who are looking for information to help make their baby’s nursery a safe, toxin-free place.

Wild Mint, a toxin-free, eco friendly company, has released its first Healthy Nursery E-Guidebook to help parents create a safe place for babies. Wild Mint hopes to teach parents about the dangers of potentially toxic chemicals found in a nursery, and outline why children are more susceptible than adults to the effects of these chemicals. Some of the toxins that Wild Mint urges parents to avoid include Bisphenol-A (BPA), Formaldehyde, Lead, Phthalates, PVCs, and Volatile Organic Compounds, all of which can be found in many commonly used items in both babies’ nurseries and people’s homes.

The e-guidebook goes in-depth on different aspects of a child’s nursery including furniture and cribs, mattresses and bedding, toys and teethers, babycare products, and paints—explaining what safe and healthy alternatives are available to conventional chemical laden products. It also suggests practices that parents can do to help make existing items in a nursery safer. In addition, the guide has healthy baby recipes and informative articles including a message from a mom blogger about her top “must have” non toxic nursery items.

“The Healthy Nursery e-guidebook is an all inclusive resource for parents who are looking for information to help make their baby’s nursery a safe, toxin-free place,” says Wild Mint President, Hannah Helsabeck.

Some informative tips from the e-guidebook that will help parents create a healthy nursery include:

1)    Going formaldehyde free - Look for formaldehyde free, low VOC paints and glues, and non toxic finishes when choosing new furniture.

2)    Choose an organic mattress – 72% of standard crib mattresses can contain harmful chemicals including formaldehyde, flame-retardents, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), PVCs, antibacterials, and waterproofing finishes.

3)    Opt for toxin-free paints – Watch for painted toys to make sure the paint is non-toxic and lead free. Choose only natural baby toys made of safe materials.

4)    Watch out for “babywashing” – Terms like pure, natural, safe, eco-friendly, and BPA free are not regulated, so companies are free to use them on their labels without strong evidence. Parents should do their research before purchasing products to make sure the products meet their personal standards for safety.
