Author William C. Moton’s new novel, “Buffalo Soldiers: South of the Rio Grande” (published by Trafford Publishing), follows two African American soldiers attempting a daring prisoner exchange during the height of the Mexican Revolution.
Captain Gilmore, an African American officer, and Jenkins Craves, an old Buffalo Soldier with heavy combat experience, have been given orders to transport several prisoners of the Mexican army south of the border so they can be exchanged for a group of American prisoners. Gilmore and Craves think the mission should be a walk in the park; the days that follow prove them wrong.
“Buffalo Soldiers” follows the two soldiers as they brave enemy territory to save the lives of the American prisoners. During their journey they meet a woman they feel inclined to protect, encounter bandits, battle the Mexican Federal Army and clash with various turncoats. What began as a rescue mission quickly turns into a fight for their lives.
