US Sports Camps to Provide $5000 in Scholarships to Low-Income Students via Wishbone
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2016 -- US Sports Camps, operators of Nike Sports Camps, have been working with Wishbone since 2012. In 2015, over 38 Wishbone students attended a US/Nike Sports Camp in sports such as baseball, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and more. For 2016, US/Nike Sports Camps will provide more than ever below, giving $5,000 worth of full and partial scholarships for Wishbone students to attend one of their summer camps in the U.S..
Wishbone is a non-profit organization that sends low-income high school students from New York City, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Connecticut to summer programs. Wishbone is driven by three goals: 1) To inspire thousands of kids to redefine their future and pursue their passions, 2) To reshape the scholarship market by opening high-quality programs to low-income students, and 3) To create accountability and awareness about the opportunity gap.

Since 2012, Wishbone has helped 590 students raise $1,289,282 in funding for summer programs and seen some incredibly positive changes from their students. After returning from summer programs, Wishbone students improve academically: 56% reported improvement in academic achievement, 100% of graduating seniors were accepted to college, and 100% plan to attend college. Wishbone Students are also more prepared and independent: 74% reported improved ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks on time, 77% said they were more prepared to overcome challenges, and 75% were able to name a specific career path they wished to pursue. Students and teachers also report that Wishbone students are more confident and curious in the classroom and use the skills they have used the skills they have developed through Wishbone to inspire and help other students apply to summer programs.
