Once the tour resumes, my O-1 visa will facilitate maximum flexibility in my career as a professional coach while working in the United States.
LAS VEGAS (PRWEB) June 04, 2020
Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro, Schulman & Rabkin, LLP recently represented British professional tennis coach Iain Hughes in a successful petition for an O-1 extraordinary ability visa. Mr. Hughes has been certified as a WTA Gold Coach and has worked with several top-ranked players, including former world No. 1 Andy Murray, and current world No. 8 Belinda Bencic. Mr. Hughes was also selected by the British Olympic Committee to head Great Britain’s tennis delegation at the inaugural World Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, and has served as a global talent scout for Adidas Tennis.
O-1 visas are reserved for eligible individuals in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics who have risen to the very top of their respective fields of endeavor. O-1 visa holders have the ability to work in the United States during the period of approval, up to a three-year initial term. As a result, Mr. Hughes will be in a position to provide his elite coaching services at various WTA tour events in the United States to his current player and foreign employer, Russian prodigy Anastasia Potapova, for the next several years.
"Once the tour resumes, my O-1 visa will facilitate maximum flexibility in my career as a professional coach while working in the United States. I will be able to attend tournaments and conferences, schedule training blocks, and generally carry out my complete duties as a professional coach with the peace of mind knowing that my presence and activities are authorized during the O-1 visa period," said Mr. Hughes.
Wolf Rifkin attorney, Jordan Butler, prepared Mr. Hughes’ petition, working closely with Mr. Hughes to identify supporting evidence for several categories of criteria, including receipt of international awards, membership in exclusive professional associations, media recognition, employment in a critical capacity for distinguished organizations, and more.
As part of his sports immigration practice, Mr. Butler, a former Division I college tennis player and certified player agent, represents athletes and coaches in the preparation and adjudication of I-129 visa petitions under the P (international recognition) and O (extraordinary ability) visa categories.
