MONTCLAIR, N.J., April 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, New Jersey-based public relations firm, Violet PR, announced the hiring of Dan Gunderman as account executive and Sarah Smith as account coordinator. A boutique PR firm, Violet PR represents a diverse set of clients including economic development organizations, engineering and architecture firms, performing arts venues, philanthropic organizations, site selection consultants and real estate developers.
"Dan and Sarah bring valuable professional and practical experience to their roles at Violet PR," said April Mason, president and owner of the Montclair, N.J.-based firm. "Dan's expertise as a daily news and trade reporter and Sarah's social media skills and nonprofit experience make them ideal hires for our New Jersey PR firm."
Gunderman, a former reporter and film/TV critic for the New York Daily News, brings a knack for in-depth news coverage and storytelling to his new role. At The News, Gunderman covered the entertainment industry, politics and lifestyle trends. He is also the former editor of Cyber Security Hub (CSHub.com), an industry news site, and has reported for NorthJersey.com, Patch and others.
He holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Fairfield University, where he was co-editor-in-chief of the program's literary journal, The Causeway. He also has a B.A. in Communication (Journalism/Public Relations) from Monmouth University, where he was the editor-in-chief of the school's online magazine, The Verge. Gunderman is also the author of the historical fiction novel, "Synod," published in 2018.
Gunderman is managing media relations, content development and social media for clients including Dresdner Robin, a Jersey City-based land-use consultancy; Patch, the nation's leading hyperlocal news platform; the Wellmont Theater, Montclair's historic concert venue; the Great Falls Montana Development Authority, a nonprofit economic development group; and Lincoln Equities Group, a full-service real estate company.
"Violet PR's results are quite impressive and I'm excited about the projects we have in the works," Gunderman said. "That includes A-list musical acts coming through the Wellmont Theater, bold redevelopment projects across New Jersey, as well as some of the nation's leading economic development efforts. We're telling creative stories about our clients who are innovating every day, and I'm looking forward to being on the ground floor, bringing this news to the public."
Smith, an account coordinator with the boutique PR firm, has previously helped plan and execute events including the 81st annual Walk to Washington, one of New Jersey's most popular economic and political outings.
A recent Seton Hall University Public Relations graduate, Smith has seven communication internships and full-time experiences under her belt. Her experience includes work for nonprofits, state and local government agencies, healthcare organizations and more. While attending Seton Hall, Smith was selected for the Communications Honors Alumni Program, connecting the school's top students with alumni who are now key leaders in the field.
Smith's work has included a social media program for the Kansas City Area Development Council at the #SXSW 2019 conference, identifying national speaking opportunities for the CEO of the Pittsburgh International Airport and managing Violet PR's awards program.
