Workona Unveils The Missing Desktop for the Cloud; Announces $6M in Seed Funding
With over a half-million workspaces created, Workona is transforming how modern work is done.
SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Workona today announced the launch of their cloud desktop, a work management platform that allows users to access and manage resources across more than 75 popular cloud apps from a single unified system. The launch follows Workona's successful completion of a $6 million seed funding round, led by K9 Ventures and August Capital, to accelerate its product development and user acquisition.
"So many people spend their days working in the cloud, but there was no platform to manage that work. That's what Workona does," said Quinn Morgan, Workona co-founder and CEO. "Previously, all of your cloud apps, projects, and documents were scattered across the web. Workona's cloud desktop pulls them together into one powerful system."
Launched in 2017, Workona initially focused on tab management and workspaces, helping users organize projects, meetings, and workflows in the browser. With over half a million workspaces created so far, Workona struck a chord with knowledge workers. Now, Workona is giving users the power to control their cloud apps right from Workona without clicking away to different browser tabs.
Workona offers a streamlined experience for working on the web that's unrivaled by any other tool, enabling users to create Google Docs, Asana Projects, Zoom Meetings, Trello Boards, and hundreds of other cloud resources, all in one place. "Workona is a force multiplier because it impacts every level of your work," Morgan said. "Your apps and projects are at your fingertips, so every action you take is significantly faster."
With Workona's Find and Create bar, locating or creating cloud resources—documents, video calls, calendar events, CRM records, and more—is as simple as typing a few characters. The platform also includes a tab management feature that lets workers immerse themselves in a single project, or switch easily between projects without fear of losing their place.
"Workona solves a problem that is staring us in the face, but we haven't noticed it yet," said Manu Kumar, Workona board member and K9 Ventures investor. "Microsoft and Apple used to put an enormous amount of engineering power into optimizing the desktop, but all that was forgotten when we transitioned to working in the browser. Workona has picked up where they left off by bringing the best features of a desktop to the cloud."
Workona's early users hail from both startups and Fortune 500 companies, and include industry leaders like Twitter, Salesforce, Amazon, and NASA. The company plans to expand its offerings for enterprise customers later this year.
