World Patent Marketing, a vertically integrated manufacturer and engineer of patented products, joins with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the US Chamber of Commerce in urging Congress to authorize funding for the US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im).

"I cannot understand what Congress is thinking," said Scott J. Cooper, CEO and Creative Director of World Patent Marketing. "The Export-Import Bank is a program that helps American small business, the people who are creating the new technologies. We need Congress to support new technology and help us spread US patented inventions worldwide. Why would you stand in the way of that? Especially with a program that actually brings in one billion dollars per year to the US Treasury."

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has been asking Congress to authorize funding for the Export-Import Bank, usually referred to as the Ex-Im. So far, in spite of support from the Senate and the White House, Congress has refused to budge.

The Hill reported on July 30, 2015:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) are lobbying to revive the bank, arguing that its international financing helps to sustain thousands of U.S. jobs. “It’s time to allow a bipartisan majority of Congress to reauthorize a tool that we need to enhance America’s free enterprise system against aggressive foreign competitors and level the playing field for manufacturers to win business for more U.S. jobs,” NAM president and CEO Jay Timmons said in a statement.

Cooper adds, "The Export-Import Bank has been good for business, exports, and jobs. Since 2008, it has supported over $10 billion in exports and over 1 million jobs - 90% of which were small business. In each of the last two years, the Export-Import Bank contributed $1 billion dollars, to the US Treasury. The lifetime default rate of Ex-Im is below 2%, and in the past year it was a mere 0.25%. In short, it is a conservative well-run institution that greatly benefits American manufacturers, investors, and workers."

The Export-Import Bank backs loans to foreign customers who could not otherwise obtain credit to buy American goods. By law it cannot compete with American commercial banks. Over 60 countries in the world, have export-import banks organized very along the same lines as the US. Many of them are far more aggressive.
