According to a report from MassDevice.com, the sale of the OrthoRecon division has been in the works since June.*

Court documents indicate that Wright Medical Group is named a defendant in nearly 80 lawsuits involving its Conserve hip replacement line, most of which are pending in a consolidated litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia. All of these lawsuits allege injuries due to the metal-on-metal design of the Conserve Total Hip Implant System, Conserve Total A-Class Advanced Metal Hip Implant System, and the Conserve Resurfacing System. In April, Wright Medical Group, Inc. disclosed in a regulatory filing that it had been named a defendant in a number of lawsuits filed on behalf of Wright Profemur hip replacement recipients who allegedly suffered complications associated with the fracturing of the Profemur long titanium modular neck product.** Court documents filed in March in U.S. District Court, Northern District of California also indicated that the company had reached a settlement in a Wright hip lawsuit involving a Profemur recipient that had been pending in that venue.(Tucker, et ux. v. Wright Medical Technology, Inc., et al., No. 4:11-cv-03086) Additional court documents filed last month in U.S. District Court, Middle District of Georgia show that a second Wright Profemur hip lawsuit was settled in that jurisdiction just prior to trial.
