Last Call for Essay Submissions in May 2014 Writing Contest for High School Students on StageofLife.com
Dallastown, PA (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- To celebrate the high school and college graduation season, StageofLife.com, an international writing contest for high school students, announced its last call for essay submissions to its Graduation Speech writing contest.
In 500 words or less, the website is asking teens and college students to write a graduation speech that they would want to share with their class.
Rebecca Thiegs, VP of Education for StageofLife.com says, "We want submissions on this student writing contest to go beyond a typical 'canned graduation speech' that gives lofty ideals without any concrete, specific details to back them up. Instead, we want stories to be woven into the commencement speeches - stories of first days in school, class memories, the biggest challenges in school, lunch room favorites, inspirational teachers, best friends, dances and disasters."
Thiegs elaborated that the speeches can be positive, snarky, real, funny, dark, hopeful, or bleak.
"If a teen could be the speaker at graduation, what would he or she say?" she asks. "We want to know."
Judging this month's contest will generate some unique stories says Eric Thiegs, CEO and Founder of StageofLife.com. "We're giving people a chance to write something inspirational - something they would want to say to their entire class and then publish that for the world to read."
Alongside the Graduation Speech writing contest, StageofLife.com is featuring inspirational and funny graduation videos, quotes, a Twitter awareness component, and other information.
Essays shared on StageofLife.com for this month's story contest must be original, 500 words or less, and non-fiction. The deadline for submitting stories on this topic is midnight May 31, 2014 Pacific Time US.
The winning essays and finalists will be selected by the StageofLife.com editorial board.
Finalists, Runners Up, and Winners will be posted on the writing contest winners page and Teen Trend Report after June 20th, 2014.
Two winning essay writers (one teen and one adult) will be selected from across all submitted stories and will receive a prize package from StageofLife.com including gift cards from StageofLife.com educational sponsors.
