St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) March 05, 2015
As legal counsel for some of the 220 plaintiffs* now involved in the Xarelto lawsuit multidistrict litigation (MDL) underway in U.S. District Court in Louisiana**, the Onder Law Firm provides an update on the litigation’s progress. A routine initial status conference took place on February 27, establishing a number of practices for the developing multidistrict litigation, according to court documents.
“This status conference was routine and the details of it will likely not interest the general public. What may, however, interest the general public is to learn that at least 220 plaintiffs to date have questioned the safety of the prescription drug Xarelto. From reading the associated court documents, one can see that plaintiffs involved in Xarelto lawsuits all say that the drug’s makers did not clearly warn consumers of the Xarelto’s risks, including severe internal bleeding for which there is no known antidote. Plaintiffs allege they and their loved ones have suffered severe and even fatal internal bleeding events from Xarelto. People still taking the drug may be interested to learn this information. And people who believe they may have grounds for a Xarelto lawsuit will be interested to learn they may still file a claim as part of this MDL,” explains Jim Onder of the Onder Law Firm.
Court documents detail the proceedings of the initial status conference. The contents of eight Pre-Trial Orders were discussed, according to court documents. The Pre-Trial Orders cover topics including the establishment of the Plaintiffs’ and Defendants’ Liaison Counsels, the appointment of members and responsibilities to steering committees and the posts of Co-Lead Counsel, and the establishment of reimbursement procedures for common court costs. The next Status Conference has been set for April 1, 2015 at 9:00 AM.
Xarelto lawsuits were consolidated in Louisiana in December of 2014 by order of the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML).
