Our Firm is representing plaintiffs in Xarelto lawsuits, and dozens of similar claims have been filed against the drug’s manufacturers in U.S. courts.
New York, New York (PRWEB) January 10, 2015
The Xarelto lawyers (http://www.xareltolawsuit2015.com/xarelto-lawyer/) at Bernstein Liebhard LLP note with interest a new report detailing the amount of money the manufacturers of Xarelto have spent to promote the blood thinner to the medical community. According to the report, which was the result of a joint investigation between The New York Times and ProPublica, more than $6.93 million has been spent to market Xarelto to physicians and teaching hospitals, including payments for meals, promotional speeches, consulting and educational gifts. The report further noted that Xarelto and similar new-generation blood thinners have been marketed as superior alternatives to warfarin, an older, less expensive anticoagulant. *
“Our Firm is representing plaintiffs in Xarelto lawsuits, and dozens of similar claims have been filed against the drug’s manufacturers in U.S. courts. The revelations contained in this report are interesting, as these lawsuits also question the marketing tactics used to drive sales of Xarelto,” said Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free, no-obligation Xarelto case reviews to people who allegedly suffered serious injuries from the blood thinner, including uncontrollable bleeding, strokes, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
Xarelto Lawsuit Allegations
Xarelto (rivaroxaban) was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration in 2011, and is currently indicated to prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation; as a treatment for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism; and to prevent deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery.**
According to court documents, dozens of Xarelto lawsuits are currently pending in a federal multidistrict litigation now underway in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, where all federally-filed claims brought on behalf of patients who allegedly suffered uncontrollable internal hemorrhaging and related side effects due to the medication have been consolidated for coordinated pretrial proceedings. All of these lawsuits similarly allege that Xarelto’s manufacturers wrongly marketed the medication as a superior alternative to warfarin. Among other things, plaintiffs note that while there is currently no approved antidote to reverse Xarelto bleeding, similar bleeding complications associated with warfarin can be stopped via the administration of Vitamin K. Individuals who were allegedly harmed by Xarelto may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
