Yoga Photography Bridges Humanity: Police Officers to Inmates, Amputees to Cancer Survivors
SEDONA, Ariz. (PRWEB) June 07, 2019 -- In a recent episode of the Shamangelic Healing Podcast with Anahata Ananda, guest Robert Sturman shares how people are drawn together through his yoga photography work and the human connection cultivated from the images. His photographs of first-responders, amputees, inmates, one-hundred-year-old yogi Tao Porchon-Lynch, breast cancer survivors, third-world country children, military veteran’s, firefighters and police officers all weave together the common facet of utilizing the practice of yoga to strengthen individual connection. Robert’s passion for life-long yoga and talent for photography blends seamlessly, creating a humanitarian movement of encouragement and access to inner peace and strength.
During the live interview in Sedona, Anahata draws out the pivotal point in Sturman’s life when he could recall his artistic talents emerging. Her ability to pinpoint the root causes of guest’s blessings in life, as well as challenging core issues, is a specialty of hers. People have experienced these breakthroughs during Shamangelic Healing Journeys with her in Sedona. Sturman shares that at the young age of fourteen, he was given his first camera as he was dropped off at boarding school and told to take pictures of anything that he loved. “It was one of the most important pieces of advice I’d ever received,” shared Sturman. He fast forwards to revealing that although he was surrounded throughout his younger life by the existence of a yoga community, it was not something he felt a calling to practice regularly at the time as he was mainly focused on his art.
“I was ideologically conditioned to believe artists lead lives of self-destruction. My heroes in the history of art lived lives of self-destruction,” says Sturman. He shares that he always wanted to re-write that story, as those heroes were not his role models. Almost fifteen years later, what he claims was the missing link, came to him when he answered an inner call to go to India. As he acclimated himself in the city of Puna, he was guided to a meditation center. There, “I realized I could create from a place of joy, because I had also been guilty of creating from a place of desperation,” shares Sturman. That began his journey of blending his artistic talents with his yogic path.
