Young Marines Participate in GLOCK's Pledge Drive for Firearms Safety
Washington D.C. (PRWEB) June 02, 2015 -- The Young Marines, a national youth organization, is partnering with GLOCK on its "Pledge, Practice, Promote Firearms Safety" pledge campaign which takes place during the month of June.
“GLOCK and the Young Marines have been partners for many years, and this is an effort I fully endorse,” said Mike Kessler, national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines. “Negligent discharges are easily preventable, yet they wound and kill hundreds each and every year. I want this pledge to become a nation-wide campaign to bring a sense of awareness to the responsibilities associated with the handling of firearms of all calibers.”
GLOCK actively works year-round to promote gun safety across the United States. It joins a community of law enforcement, community leaders, businesses, and the firearms industry to raise public awareness about reducing firearms incidents.
“As a firearms manufacturer and a leader in the industry, GLOCK’s first and foremost responsibility is to teach and promote firearms safety within the industry as well as outside of it," said Josh Dorsey, vice president at GLOCK, Inc. "Safety is an issue that puts us all on the same page."
As a part of National Safety Month in June, GLOCK leaders are encouraging others to take the annual GLOCK Safety Pledge to show personal commitment to firearms safety. GLOCK proudly joins a community of law enforcement, community leaders, businesses, and the firearms industry to raise public awareness about reducing firearm incidents.
"There is an inherent responsibility that goes along with owning a firearm," Dorsey said. "In addition to its safe handling, control of access is also paramount. Practicing firearms safety is imperative; that is why we're asking the community to join us in committing to these fundamental practices."
“Pledge, practice, and promote firearms safety - today and every day,” said R. Lee Ermey, a GLOCK ambassador and Young Marines celebrity spokesperson.
GLOCK will be awarding the GLOCK Safety Ambassador of the Year Award to the individual or organization that demonstrates the promotion of firearms safety by driving pledges throughout their community.
