Colorado Motorcyclists Support Childhood Cancer Foundation Zac’s Legacy
Greeley, CO (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- Zac’s Legacy Foundation is calling all motorcyclists from all over Colorado State to join them in their annual event. The Rockin’ and Ridin’ Poker Run will begin at 9 a.m. on August 24th at two different locations: the Moose Lodge in Longmont or at Wild West Motorsports in Greeley. There will be several stops along the way with raffles, door prizes, live music and lunch at Quaker Steak and Lube.
Founder, John Carlson said, “What we do is help to keep the family unit together by supporting their everyday needs. We want to take the monetary pressures off of the family and allow them to focus on the health of their child. We have been taking care of our neighbors in Greeley and the surrounding area and are hoping to take care of families throughout the entire state of Colorado with the help of these fundraising events.”
Zac’s Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that has been created to honor the memory of Zackery Allen Carlson, who at the age of 2 ½, passed away after lengthy complications (Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) of the cancer treatments for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His parents, John and Sara were able to observe the financial burdens and hardships that come from being dedicated parents, discovering there was a need for financial assistance for families going through similar circumstances.
As the Zac’s Legacy Foundation’s Vice President and local business owner of Arthur Carlson - Farmers Insurance, Arthur “Skip” Carlson is hoping to bring awareness to the foundation both locally and throughout Colorado State. “What makes us unique is we pay the water bill, the house payment, give families gas money to get back and forth from the hospital and much more,” said Carlson. “It would be fantastic if we could gather up all the Colorado motorcyclists for the August 24th event and get the word out that Zac’s Legacy Foundation is here for Colorado families in need.”
"Our family got to know John and his sweet child Zac many years ago as our son was in an adjacent hospital room. We empathized with their struggle and heart-breaking loss. When our son relapsed and continued to struggle, Zac's Legacy was there to help us in our financial need from loss of work and added costs. We very much appreciated all they did for us,” said Anne, a Zac’s Legacy benefactor.
