Beijing, China (PRWEB) March 20, 2014 -- ZCorum, a leading provider of managed broadband services, will be demonstrating their latest generation of diagnostics solutions for cable operators who are gathered in Beijing for the China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) show that starts today. ZCorum will be presenting their software to invited guests in a suite hosted by MaxLinear at the Radisson Blu Hotel, located near the exhibition center.
One of the products ZCorum will be demonstrating is RF Inspector, a remote spectrum analysis tool that runs on PCs and mobile devices, and can serve as a replacement for the meters that cable provider’s use today to read spectrum in the field. “With RF Inspector the technician no longer needs to drive from house to house to hook up expensive and bulky test equipment,” said Arthur Skinner, ZCorum’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales. “We’ll be selling the app for only $9.95 per year, and they can pull up the same information they would see on a meter, and see it right on their phone, tablet or PC, wherever they happen to be.”
RF Inspector works by leveraging the latest chipsets in cable modems and set-top boxes that can capture the full spectrum passing through the device. Skinner said there is no shortage of hardware that can do that. “MaxLinear tuners have been compatible on the hardware side for years, so there are already tens of millions of devices in the field with a MaxLinear SoC that support full spectrum capture.”
In addition to RF Inspector, ZCorum will be demonstrating two other tools that make use of relatively new capabilities in DOCSIS. PreEqualization Analyzer is a Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) tool that analyzes pre-equalization data. It shows operators where the upstream impairments are in their cable plant so they can fix the problem before subscriber services are affected. Upstream Analyzer is a software-based application for remote upstream spectrum analysis that replaces the head-end equipment operators would normally use to troubleshoot upstream issues in the HFC plant.
“At ZCorum we are committed to providing cable operators with innovative solutions that improve the way they serve their customers,” said Julie Compann, Chief Executive Officer at ZCorum. “We’re looking forward to meeting with several MSOs while we’re here in China and demonstrating how our next-generation of diagnostics tools can significantly reduce their capital and operational costs.”
