ZINIO Partners with Top Magazine Publishers for New Apple News+ Platform
Leading up to the release of the new Apple News+ subscription service, ZINIO worked hand in hand with Apple and top magazine publishers to provide an end-to-end solution for conversion to Apple News Format (ANF), custom template creation, and issue compilation.
NEW YORK, April 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ZINIO, the leading technology platform for digital magazines, has partnered with top magazine publishers to digitally convert their print issues for the launch of the newly unveiled Apple News+, the new subscription service within the Apple News app that gives customers access to over 300 premium magazines and newspapers. Magazine titles that worked with ZINIO for the Apple News+ launch include Better Homes & Gardens, Travel + Leisure, People, Shape, Popular Science, Entertainment Weekly, InStyle, Martha Stewart Living, Saveur, Motor Trend, Automobile, Adweek, The Week, Macworld, PC World, Real Simple, Food & Wine, Backpacker, Clean Eating, Yoga Journal, L'actualité, Wine Enthusiast, Outside, Gripped, Véro, Racer, and many others.
"Working with ZINIO to get Mother Jones on Apple News+ helped us to be there at launch time. The customized templates matched our unique design and the CMS integration to iCloud News Publisher was painless," said Claudia Smuckler, Production Director for Mother Jones. "By centralizing issue conversions with ZINIO, we can expect greater accuracy and efficiency in all our digital editions."
Added Alvaro Palacios, COO of Newsweek: "ZINIO is setting us up for success on Apple News+ and we expect that the channel will drive significant audience to Newsweek's views and news, as well as our culture and lifestyle content."
ZINIO's proprietary technology converted print magazine issues into Apple News Format (ANF), developed custom templates for the optimal presentation of magazine content for mobile devices, allowed publishers to edit their content for the Apple New channel, and pushed the content to Apple's News Publisher directly from ZINIO's Content Management System (CMS).
Song Yang, Digital Director for magazine Cowboys & Indians, added: "The visual design of C&I is an integral part of how we retain our loyal readers and continue to thrive as a magazine. Considering Apple's reputation for inspiring, user-friendly presentation, it feels natural to team up with ZINIO to be a part of Apple News+ from the beginning. ZINIO's creative team provided us with the Apple-friendly templates that would best display the magazine's content, and their technology team developed a CMS dashboard that connects directly to the new iCloud News Publisher with ease. The technical workflow process is frictionless and intuitive to navigate, which helps us to achieve smooth workflow and meet deadlines."
"At ZINIO, we are dedicated to optimizing the digital return on investment for publishers while giving consumers the best in class mobile reading experience for richly designed magazine content," said Rolf Rohwer, Senior Vice President of Product at ZINIO. "We are pleased to provide publishers with the technology to bring their content to Apple News+ and expand their distribution to a whole new audience of users."
Publishers have been inspired by the opportunity that Apple's new digital magazine platform presents. "The Hockey News is thrilled to be included in the launch of Apple News+, which has happened seamlessly thanks to our collaboration with ZINIO," said Erika Vanderveer, Creative Director for The Hockey News. "ZINIO provides support to convert our print magazine to digital, enabling us to easily feed it to our multiple platforms, including iCloud Publisher, the back-end CMS editor of Apple News+."
"ZINIO's 'Edit Once, Distribute Everywhere' technology solves the logistical challenges of a complex digital ecosystem with one streamlined workflow, unlocking new revenue and circulation opportunities for publishers," continued Rolf Rohwer, Senior Vice President of Product at ZINIO. "Our partnership with Apple News+ is simply an extension of this, as we continue to expand our distribution network to address the needs of our publishers in an ever-evolving digital landscape."
