Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 13, 2016 -- The Lannan Ship Model Gallery began in the basement of the Lannan’s Quincy, Massachusetts home in 1967 and has been furnishing private homes, restaurants, hotels, office spaces and movie sets with the widest variety of marine and seafaring historical relics. For five decades, the business has interested and acquired the allegiance of collectors and corporations both recreational sailors and competitive yachtsmen to Naval aficionados.
The collection includes dozens of authentic ship’s lanterns, six engine order telegraphs, compasses, binnacles, optics including binoculars and telescopes, clocks, barometers and a rare collection of 19th century maritime charts. Other wall art includes oil paintings, prints and original yacht blueprints.
Never before seen items will be sold as well as many pieces from JP Morgan’s steam yacht “Corsair”. In April 2011, Boston Harbor Auctions had great success in auctioning the part of the personal collection once owned by the billionaire tycoon of the Gilded Age grossing over 1 million dollars in a single sale.
The silk dress flags from the 1890 yacht include yacht ensign, New York Yacht Club burgee and Morgans’ Commodores flag. Porcelain china from Minton’s such as plates, bowls, tea cups, platters, and asparagus dishes are decorated with Morgan’s house flags and New York Yacht Club burgee. Other Morgan items include linens , silver, and original movies filmed on board Corsair IV in the Galapagos.
Fifty years of favorites include an astonishing collection of miniature ships, acquired through attic finds and deaccessioned museum treasures to be auctioned; the Joseph Lannan ship model collection. The models come from every corner of the world and are valued from 200 to 50000 dollars. Sizes from a seven inch clipper ship to a nine foot freighter with 700 gold plated fittings. Over 100 ship models will be included.
