Dance Academy USA Stays Connected to the Community
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- Recently, in an ongoing effort to stay connected to the local community, Dance Academy USA sent two of their best and brightest stars to Covington Elementary school to teach a two-hour hip hop class.
Apprentice Teacher, Joy Lee, and DAU Performance Company Teacher Assistant, Makayla Garcia, paid a visit to Covington Elementary School on October 22nd, to teach a free, two-hour hip hop class. The class was an incredible opportunity, not only for the children of Covington, but for Joy and Makayla as well, both of whom love working with children and both of whom are committed to sharing their love of dance.
Coming off the heels of DAU’s “School Spirit Contest” last Spring, this event was just the latest effort on the part of Dance Academy USA to give back to the local school system and to show support for the kids, faculty and staff of Covington Elementary School.
Makayla Garcia, a member of DAU since the age of three, said, "I felt like I was showing the kids a great way to exercise. It made me feel good that I could teach dance to school aged kids- something that I love and that I have been doing my whole life."
Joy Lee, who like her counterpart, has been attending Dance Academy USA since the age of three, said “I got a huge thrill from watching the kids excitement from dancing and watching how they all worked together as a team."
Dance Academy USA takes pride in their local schools and is pleased to support the dance ambitions of many of their students. In an effort to bridge roles and create strong community leaders, Dance Academy USA strives to stay connected with their local schools. This commitment to community and excellence is why DAU Co-Founder, Jane Carter, was recently named “Educator of the Year” by Co. Dance.
