“The Altan™ controller”, according to inventor Zack Braunstein, “is designed to provide variety of control features required for supporting the development and production of patented and patent pending LED products of ADVS-Technologies, while also contributing to improving our environment.”
The hardware of Altan™ controller is configurable for any given application. The hardware includes state-of-the-art micro-controller, sensors, power drivers and LAN interface. On-board sensors include optical, proximity, temperature, and input level of applied power supply.
The embedded control algorithm written in C-language is configurable to achieve the most optimum control for each application.
“When Altan™ is installed in the patent pending LED MagicStreetSigns™ devices,” continues Braunstein, “the controller hardware and firmware configurations ensure device compliance to most stringent respective agency regulations. An example is the ability to control LED’s intensity based on the level of ambient light, including turning the LEDs off completely as needed, resulting in reduction of power consumption below 0.1 Watt.”
Additional features of Altan™ include self-diagnostics control algorithm, which ensures the device controlled by Altan™ is utilized within the specifications at all times.
The truly unique feature of Altan™ is its ability to contribute to the environmental safety.
“The ADVS-Technologies patented and patent pending LED products,” concludes Braunstein, “utilize Altan™ to also monitor ambient temperature surrounding the device it is installed in. When the temperature surrounding LED MagicStreetSigns™ or LED MagicHouseLight™ devices is exceeding pre-defined high limits, the Altan™ will lower the internal power dissipation and visually inform the user of a potential problem. When the temperature surrounding LED MagicStreetSigns™, installed outdoors, falls below pre-defined low limits, the Altan™ will increase the internal power dissipation in order to sustain device operation at low outdoor temperatures. For intelligent LED Pix-Cell™ devices, the Altan™ will interface with other controllers via I2C LAN, and then via PWM controls of LED’s provide beautiful backlighting of art by alternating colors, shades, etc. At all times, the control algorithm ensures the Altan™ and the device it is installed in, are operating within the respective specifications, sustaining the device operation to its maximum!”
For reference, the patented and patent pending LED MagicStreetSign™ devices improve visibility of the street name and the street address signs. In events of emergency, the MagicStreetSign™ system will use color coordinated illumination and blinking effects to provide visual assistance in finding a location in need of help as soon as possible.
