The discerning preppy customers who shop with us aren’t looking for another faceless department store in a big city. They want a brand who gets them, who understands their tastes and sense of style, and who is a natural part of their culture.

Country Club Prep, the first and only one-stop e-commerce retailer for preppy apparel, is hosting the grand opening of its first brick-and-mortar store in Charlottesville, Va. on August 23. Launched from a basement in 2012 by two former attorneys turned preppy fashion pros, the award-winning Country Club Prep has experienced an annual 600 percent growth rate. Co-founders Matt Watson and Stephen Glasgow had little experience in the e-commerce industry other than a dream and a passion for preppy fashion, but in only two years, they’ve been acclaimed as the “Zappos for prepsters.” Now, they are now bringing the preppy styles they are known for directly to their customers, starting where they met – the University of Virginia.

“Our goal for Country Club Prep has always been to make it easy, efficient, and fun for people to shop for preppy-styled clothing and discover new designers,” said Stephen Glasgow, co-founder. “In the past few years, we have seen how prepsters like us prefer to shop, and we recognized an opportunity to extend our brand offline to enhance the shopping experience for our customers.”

The entertaining, stress-free environment of Country Club Prep’s first brick-and-mortar location, as well as those to come, aims to make shopping easy and enjoyable. All customers receive a free koozie upon arrival, and those of age can even have it filled with a delicious beverage for a more relaxed shopping experience.

On the heels of the Charlottesville grand opening, the founders are already planning their second location near the University of Kentucky, with an anticipated opening this fall.

“The discerning preppy customers who shop with us aren’t looking for another faceless department store in a big city. They want a brand who gets them, who understands their tastes and sense of style, and who is a natural part of their culture,” said Matt Watson, co-founder of Country Club Prep. “That’s the void we’re looking to fill by opening in college and resort towns.”

As traditional brick-and-mortar stores lose footing to e-commerce retailers, Country Club Prep is setting a new standard in fashion. With projected online revenue of $5.5 million, the founders of the e-commerce retailer are taking what they have learned about the demand for preppy clothes and shopping experiences offline.
