Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Military Spouse Magazine to Host Second Annual Caucus May 8th in DC
Pittsburgh, PA (April 29, 2014) Military Spouse magazine is hosting its second annual Military Spouse Caucus on May 8, 2014 in Washington, D.C., the day before the 2014 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® Awards Luncheon. Rosemary Williams, Deputy Director of Military Community and Family Policy, will be the keynote speaker and plans to discuss the resources available to military spouses seeking education and employment.
The Caucus agenda boasts a host of topics including resiliency, family support and advocating for the greater military community. However, the highlight of the event will be an afternoon length session with the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission (MCRMC). Members of this Commission include: The Honorable Alphonso Maldon, Jr., Chairman, The Honorable Larry Pressler, The Honorable Stephen Buyer, Admiral Edmund Giambastiani, Jr., U.S. Navy, Retired, Mr. Michael Higgins, The Honorable Dov Zakheim, General Peter W. Chiarelli, U.S. Army, Retired, The Honorable Christopher Carney and The Honorable Robert Kerrey. Individual breakouts and a general group session will provide ample time for in-depth discussion on proposed modifications and amendments to military compensation and benefits.
“We are thrilled to have the MCRMC attending our Caucus this year. This is our chance to have a collective voice for the 1.1 million military spouses and their families,” said Suzie Schwartz, Vice President of Military Spouse Programs. “The Caucus is a forum for identifying ways to have a continuing impact on the military community. There is no better way to convey those needs than to do so directly to those with the power to impact our lives indefinitely.”
The Caucus’ title sponsors are Hilton Worldwide’s Hampton Hotels, Homewood Suites and Home 2 Suites, and the event itself will be hosted at the Capital Hilton location in Washington DC. “Every day, military spouses display tremendous courage and strength, and Hilton Worldwide wants to show our gratitude,” said Phil Cordell, global head, Focused Service and Hampton brand. “Offering affordable vacation options to military families is just one way in which we can demonstrate our support and help families build lasting memories.”
Military Spouse plans to grow the event annually with subsequent Caucus’s that will explore and address the issues that face military families after more than a decade of war. Stay up to date with military spouse news and events at http://www.militaryspouse.com.
