“Images from Abroad” Now Showing at the State Street Gallery of Robert Morris University Illinois
CHICAGO (PRWEB) May 22, 2019 -- A May 20 reception welcoming study abroad alumni from the Florence University of the Arts (FUA) was held at the Robert Morris University State Street Art Gallery, 401 S. State in Chicago. Titled “Images from Abroad,” it is the culmination of student work exhibited throughout the 2018-19 academic year at FUA. Each piece was carefully selected under the direction of the FUA faculty, as well as their peers, to reflect their learning experience while studying at FUA.
The exhibit was made possible through the partnership of Florence University of the Arts and Robert Morris University Illinois.
“Life changing.” “I didn’t want to leave.” “I loved the slower pace of life.” These were just a few of the comments from students who elected to spend time during their college careers to study abroad. “I know I don’t have to tell any of you what an amazing experience studying in another country can be,” explained Shelley LaMantia, director of International Studies at RMU, to the crowd of former and current students who gathered for the event. “We are here to celebrate your experiences and do what we can so more students can have this life changing opportunity.”
The artwork covered a broad range of media, including watercolors, photography, video, interactional pieces and multi-dimensional work by students and professors.
Attendees were treated to different appetizers, mini plates and desserts prepared by students in the Robert Morris University Institute of Culinary Arts. The exhibit continues through August 29, 2019.
