Alasdair Thompson Talks about Finding God and Joy in the Darkest Time of His Life
New Zealand (PRWEB) September 11, 2013 -- In 2011, the life of Alasdair Thompson took a sudden downward spiral after he made a controversial remark in a radio interview. From the pinnacle of success and leadership, he found himself publicly disgraced. He was fired from his position as chief executive officer of New Zealand’s Employers and Manufacturers Association and gained worldwide notoriety. It was a thoroughly humiliating experience. The cost of that remark was devastating yet it also led to a series of events that unexpectedly showed him what truly mattered in life. In Life Changing: Learning from the Past; Fixing the Future, Thompson shares how he found light during one of the darkest times in his life. The redemptive journey captured in this autobiography is a powerful testament of faith and hope.
Life Changing paints a different portrait of Thompson, far from the “sexist dinosaur” that the media has scornfully portrayed. The book takes readers beyond the furore and controversy and reveals Thompson as a man with his own set of influencers, struggles, successes and failures. More importantly, it shows his transformation from someone who was successful yet unhappy to a man who sought God, learned to embrace what is truly important and found joy in everyday life.
Honest and deeply moving, Life Changing is an autobiography strewn with valuable lessons on life, family and faith. He also candidly reveals himself through his views on a number of important public policy issues and comments on the behaviour and actions of some business and political leaders. Thompson’s struggles and eventual triumph shines as a beautiful story of finding hope and joy in the most unexpected places and times.
