Architectural Designer Kim Lewis Brings Bold Color Palette to Big Chill’s New Pro Series
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) July 17, 2014 -- Former principal designer for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and self-proclaimed vagabond designer Kim Lewis was tapped by Big Chill founder Orion Creamer to create a smart and distinctively thoughtful color palette for the company’s new Pro Series of appliances.
Traditionally known for retro-style appliances, the new Pro Series, which currently includes a Range, Refrigerator and Hood, is Big Chill’s first contemporary and pro-style suite of appliances.
With its blend of modern looks, bold colors and serious performance, the design of the new series strikes an appealing balance between the overpowering industrial look of commercial equipment and the extreme minimalism of Euro-influenced products. As with all Big Chill products, color is a critical component of the offering. In addition to stainless steel, buyers can choose from 12 modern colors, all curated by Lewis, in on-trend hues like Sunflower Yellow and rich Cabernet. Unlike with most appliance lines where color is typically an upcharge, these colors are included in the standard price of each Big Chill Pro appliance.
“The Big Chill line has traditionally had a very whimsical, light-hearted, retro color palette, which I personally love,” Lewis said. “To differentiate this new, more streamlined series, I suggested Big Chill go with a deeper, more rich, jewel tone color range,” she explained.
Lewis drew on inspirations from nature and travel when it came down to selecting the bold, bright, distinguished colors for the collection. Vegetables in the garden, cabernet grapes, stone in the English Cotswold’s and the French countryside will find their way into kitchens around the country thanks to this collaboration. “People can relate to colors found in nature and landscapes,” explained Lewis. “Taking a rich, jewel tone approach, this color palette is so diverse in styles and aesthetics.”
“The new colors of the Pro series open a whole new door to the appliance world,” added Lewis. “With the trends of white kitchens, offering appliances in different colors is a unique way to break out of the mold, and create character in the kitchen. The Pro series is more for a consumer with a modern taste. This line is bold, sleek and sexy and so are these 12 colors.”
In particular, Lewis is excited about Basil, Cabernet and Sunflower Yellow. “Basil could fit in so many different moods. It’s an easy green to get along with,” explains Lewis. “Cabernet is so unique and never seen before. Sunflower Yellow is just boldly happy!”
